Nicholas Uhlmann

South Australian sculptor Nicholas Uhlmann has developed a distinctive method of wrapping a steel armature in layers of thin metallic strips. He has refined this organic constructivist technique through the creation of a large body of work that has included miniatures to large scale outdoor public sculptures, crafted from various metals and timber. A notable work is his installation of five sculptures titled ‘Tree Flower Life Cycle’, adorning the main courtyard in the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
