Susan Crookes
‘The art that influences and interests me most, perhaps partly due to my background in printmaking is simple, honest and direct – outsider, folk and naive art, cartoons and comic-books. An enduring interest and fascination with animals, their eccentricities and comical personalities have been a continuing thread throughout my practice, whether printmaking, sculpture or painting.’
Susan Crookes lives with her partner, artist Paul Lacey in Milang, South Australia with their greyhound and rescued parrots. Her work can be found in private, corporate and public collections (The Silk Cut Foundation, National Gallery of Victoria, National Gallery of Australia) and has been included in several national touring exhibitions, awards and publications.
