Grant Parke

My name is Grant Parke. I’m a multidisciplinary artist working in drawing, photography, sculpture, animation and found objects. The recurring themes appear to be about beauty in the banal, human connection, loneliness, absurdism and death. I usually err on the side of the conceptual, be it the 4 years I spent drawing people on the bus on my daily commute, or the 4 years I spent covertly drawing on purchase orders at my day job. Drawing increasingly tends to make up a large portion of my practice and I often draw direct with a fine pen at differing scales. Most recently I had the opportunity to have a studio for a time resulting in a large scale drawing project documenting bird wings that I found myself walking over on the way to the studio during the initial stages of the pandemic.
